Metformin promise as anti aging and anti cancer agent

A new fact has been discovered by researchers from the University of Montreal. The researchers obtained the fact that metformin has potential as a cure aging and cancer drugs.

Metformin is actually not a new drug, but an old drug used to lower blood sugar levels.
  In that study, the mechanism of metformin to combat aging and cancer is by reducing the production of cytokines. Stokin hormone known as hormones that accelerate the aging process.
Actually hormons cytokines play an important role, which activate the immune system against infection. However, if the hormone is produced excessive cytokines, the inflammatory process will occur. This will accelerate the inflammatory process of aging.



Metformin is a generic name for an oral medication that has been approved by the FDA in 1994 to lower blood sugar. Metformin is also prescribed for women with PCOS. PCOS is a hormone imbalance problem in women that cause health problems. In patients with PCOS, drugs to stimulate ovulation, regulate menstrual periods and increased fertility in women.

Interestingly, the study found a molecular pathway that is used to cause the anti-aging and anti-cancer is not the same path is used when metformin to treat diabetes or PCOS. Previous studies of metformin, documenting just how mechanism of anti-aging and anti-cancer occurs metformin.
